2018 Golf Day Results

 In News

Our 4th Annual WFWIA Golf Day was played on Monday 12th November 2018 at RACV Torquay Golf Club raising over $9,000 for the welfare of our students and their families from the Kibera slum in Nairobi. We may also have found sponsors for 2 of our students which will enable them to attend school in 2019. They will be forever grateful if this occurs.

We sincerely thank all the golfers who played in a packed field for their incredible support and the huge generosity of our many sponsors. It makes the effort of organising this event very worthwhile and could not be done without this support.

Our sponsors are always so vital to run this event and especially our three major sponsors – Mann Legal who offer cost-effective professional legal services with offices in Geelong and Torquay, iL Matto Italian Café Restaurant Torquay who specialise in authentic delicious Italian food and McCartney Real Estate who offer great advice on selling or buying on the Bellarine peninsula.

Olivia Rich, a local Torquay based tennis coach, was our guest speaker this year. She spoke about her tennis career including her time at the Australian Institute of Sport and representing Australia in Junior Federation Cup, along with her career on the international professional circuit. Her story was a good segue in relation to the girls from Kibera who we are educating; that by creating opportunities for young women they too can achieve their goals.

On the day we had wonderful helpers so thank you to Lyn, Marilyn, Julie, Pam and Carol. Mandy Buckley, our golf organiser and MC, worked tirelessly for months on this day and yet again she made it a great day for everyone who participated.

Once again, a big thank you to everyone for participating in such a wonderful day for a truly great cause.

See you again next year!
